Nia Coffey

28-Year-Old ForwardF
 Atlanta Dream  WNBA
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Coffey served exclusively as a starter in Atlanta for a second consecutive season in 2023, but she missed the final month of the regular season due to a hand injury. It seems likely that she'll be available for the start of the 2024 campaign, but she's now missed significant time to close out the year in three of the past four seasons. Over her 31 appearances last year, the 28-year-old averaged 6.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 21.9 minutes per game, which put her fantasy output close to what it was in the previous two seasons. Coffey is prone to some lackluster performances, so she hasn't established a fantasy floor, and her upside can be somewhat limited, despite the fact that she posted three double-doubles in 2023. While she should maintain at least a decent amount of playing time in Atlanta in 2024, her role is slightly murkier heading into the season after the team signed Tina Charles and Aerial Powers. Re-signs with Atlanta
FAtlanta Dream
February 1, 2024
Coffey re-signed with the Dream on a two-year, $300,000 contract Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Coffey has served exclusively as a starter for Atlanta over the past two seasons, and she's averaged 6.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 21.4 minutes per game during that time. She missed the end of the 2023 campaign due to a hand injury but recently resumed working out at the Dream's facilities. While she should maintain at least a decent amount of playing time in Atlanta in 2024, her role is slightly murkier heading into the season after the team signed Tina Charles and Aerial Powers.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Coffey started all 16 of her appearances last year and averaged 6.4 points and a career-high 5.1 rebounds. She missed 20 of the Dream's final 21 regular-season contests with a knee injury, but she appears to be fine heading into 2023 after agreeing to re-sign this offseason. Atlanta added two starter-level guards - Allisha Gray and Danielle Robinson - to pair with Aari McDonald, who had a breakout season last year, so those three, coupled with Rhyne Howard and Cheyenne Parker, figure to be the Dream's best five. However, that lineup may be too small to start regularly, making Coffey, Naz Hillmon and Monique Billings candidates to start when the Dream face taller lineups. If healthy, Coffey figures to be the favorite among that trio, but barring multiple injuries to the Dream's core, her overall value is expected to remain limited in 2023.
Coffey started 17 of her 32 appearances with the Sparks during the 2021 campaign, but she was unable to generate consistent production while playing for her fifth team in as many seasons. She'll now return to Atlanta, where she made 28 appearances (six starts) in 2019 and averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game. While Coffey hasn't been able to find a consistent starting role to begin her WNBA career, she should have a chance to compete with Cheyenne Parker and Kia Vaughn for a spot in the rotation to begin the 2022 season. After posting career-high marks in nearly every category in 2021, Coffey should have ample minutes to generate fantasy output regardless of her starting status.
