Race Preview

The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck series returns Tuesday night for the first time since February. As NASCAR has slowly gotten its seasons back underway, the truck series competitors have waited patiently for their chance to get rolling again. After just two races into the 2020 season their progress was halted, just like the rest of the world, and only now at the end of May are they about to return to the track. Grant Enfinger and Kyle Busch won the first two rounds at Daytona and Las Vegas.

Enfinger will enter Tuesday night's contest atop the standings as the only championship-eligible driver to win. Austin Hill and Johnny Sauter's two top-10 finishes put them in second and third in the standings, respectively. Last time out at Charlotte Kyle Busch dominated, leading 102 of 134 laps to win.

Key Stats at Charlotte Motor Speedway

  • Fastest race: 128.947 mph

Previous 10 Charlotte Winners

2019 - Kyle Busch
2018 - Johnny Sauter
2017 - Kyle Busch
2016 - Matt Crafton
2015 - Kasey Kahne
2014 - Kyle Busch
2013 - Kyle Busch
2012 - Justin Lofton
2011 - Kyle Busch
2010 - Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch has been so dominant in the NASCAR trucks series that Kevin Harvick offered a $50,000 charity donation to any Cup series driver who could beat him. There will be a few out there trying to take him down Tuesday. Chase Elliott may be the one with the best shot, too. Busch drew the 16th starting position whereas Elliott will start 26th. Without qualifying the field was set by random drawings, giving Busch an early edge against those out to topple him. Starting from pole will be full-time series driver Ben Rhodes, though. Rhodes is fourth in the standings after two races and should be considered a top contender for the win Tuesday evening. Starting alongside will be Tyler Ankrum, who finished 27th in his only truck series visit to Charlotte. Fantasy owners will not want to forget about veterans Matt Crafton and Johnny Sauter, though. Crafton has two Charlotte wins, started from pole there last year, and finished fourth in Las Vegas. Sauter won his Charlotte race in 2018 from pole and is third in the standings with a seventh-place finish in Daytona and a runner-up result from Las Vegas.

Ty Majeski - $6,100
Cory Roper - $4,900

Kyle Busch's price for Tuesday night's race forces fantasy players to go much deeper in the field to select their remaining drivers, but Busch's dominance at the track and in this series is undeniable. Those wishing for more roster flexibility may want to choose Elliott, Ross Chastain or John Hunter Nemechek instead. Still, plenty of value lies deeper in the selections. Ben Rhodes, your pole sitter, is one of those. He was fifth in Las Vegas and is fourth in the standings. Garrett Smithley, Ty Majeski and Cory Roper are drivers I will be looking at to make it to the finish in top-15 positions while Busch goes out and dominates again.
