Breaks long losing streak
StrawweightUFC
October 23, 2021
Markos defeated Livinha Souza via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The UFC decided to give Markos another chance despite the fact she entered this fight with four straight defeats. She -- with the help of Souza -- managed to break that streak and certainly save her job in the process. The final numbers are quite lopsided in Markos' favor. She landed 159 total strikes compared to just 51 from Souza, and also racked up 8:47 worth of control time over the course of the 15-minute bout. On the flip side, Souza landed three successful takedowns, and it was her dreadful positional awareness that allowed Markos to turn this into a rout. We'll see Markos again following this win, but her past body of work tells us this win was an aberration and not a sign of things to come.

Set for Oct. 24 clash
StrawweightUFC
July 20, 2021
Markos will take on Livinha Souza on the UFC"s Oct. 23 card, Raphael Marinho of Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Markos has really struggled over the past couple of years, failing to emerge victorious in any of her four fights since 2019. Her most recent loss came via DQ versus Luana Pinheiro due to an illegal kick. She may be standing on her last legs with the UFC and may need a good showing versus the also struggling Souza to keep her spot.
DQ leads to fourth straight loss
StrawweightUFC
May 1, 2021
Markos lost to Luana Pinheiro via DQ (illegal kick) at 4:16 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
You can't help but feel bad for Markos after this one. After absorbing an eye poke from Pinheiro in the early stages of the bout and continuing to fight, she cracked the Brazilian with an illegal upkick that appeared to momentarily knock Pinheiro out cold. Referee Mark Smith considered the foul egregious and disqualified Markos. It was probably the correct call, but it results in Markos' fourth straight defeat and may very well end her time with the company. Of course, that's not Smith's fault. In fact, it's a minor miracle that Markos, who now has a 6-10-1 record with the company, has managed to hang on to her roster spot since The Ultimate Fighter 20 finale back in December 2014.

StrawweightUFC
March 22, 2021
Markos will take on Luana Pinheiro at a UFC event May 1, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Markos tested positive for COVID-19, but she'll be ready for the May bout. She lost all three of her fights in 2020, including a loss via unanimous decision to Kanako Murata in November. Pinheiro will be making her UFC debut in May.
Out of UFC 260
StrawweightUFC
March 18, 2021
Markos is out of her fight at UFC 260 against Luana Pinheiro due to COVID-19 restrictions, Raphael Marinho of Combate.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Markos will have to wait to get another chance to avenge herself after dropping all three of her fights in 2020. The last of which came in mid-November to Kanako Murata via unanimous decision. It's unclear if the UFC will look to find a short notice replacement for Pinheiro.
Facing Luana Pinheiro in March
StrawweightUFC
January 19, 2021
Markos will take on Luana Pinheiro on March 27, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Markos will be looking to bounce back from a poor 2020 which saw her lose all three of her matches. Her most recent defeat came by unanimous decision against Kanako Murata in November. In Pinheiro, she'll face an opponent who's lost just once in nine professional fights but who has yet to appear under the UFC banner.
