Disqualified in UFC debut
WelterweightUFC
April 23, 2022
Barry lost to Mike Jackson via DQ (eye gouge) at 3:52 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut as the second-largest favorite on the entire card at -800, Barry committed two vicious fouls in the brief bout, the second of which earned him the disqualification. He first connected with an illegal low blow and then a brutal eye gouge which caused Jackson to scream out in pain. Referee Chris Tognoni ruled the foul intentional, resulting in the loss for Barry as soon as it was confirmed Jackson would no longer be able to continue. A fighter almost always gets a second opportunity with the company even if they drop their first bout, but Barry could be the rare exception considering everything that took place during this circus.

Each of Barry's three wins has come by way of first-round knockout and he could make a big statement in his UFC debut if he's able to do it again.
