Sleeps Andre Fili in Vegas
FeatherweightUFC
February 10, 2024
Ige defeated Andre Fili via KO (punches) at 2:43 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Ige has primarily only lost to high-end competition since arriving in the UFC, so it's no surprise he hammered Fili as a -185 favorite. Not a whole lot was going on prior to the stoppage, but all it took was one Ige right hand to end the fight in an instant. Ever the gentleman, Dan didn't even fire off a follow-up shot, waiting for Jason Herzog to jump in and call things off. Ige lost three straight from June 2021 to June 2022, but has rebounded with wins in three of his last four since. Ige was originally due to fight Lerone Murphy here before the latter was forced to withdraw, so perhaps the UFC will look to match those two up again. In the meantime, Ige will live up to his "50k" nickname, as he would go on to take home one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening.

ANALYSIS
Ige has lost four of his past six bouts and will have a few weeks to prepare for his new opponent. Fili is coming off a victory over Lucas Almeida in December but has alternated wins and losses in his past four fights.

December 6, 2023
Ige will fight Lerone Murphy at UFC Vegas 86 on Feb. 10, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After losing to Bryce Mitchell in his last time out and dropping four of his last six bouts, Ige will now be used as a test for the undefeated (5-0-1) Murphy.
Can't defend takedown in loss
FeatherweightUFC
September 23, 2023
Ige lost to Bryce Mitchell via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's rare a fight plays out as most everyone expected, but that's what we got here. Ige did fine whenever the two men were at distance, landing the more impactful, meaningful strikes the entire bout, but the wrestling game of Mitchell ended up being the difference. Dan's takedown defense has definitely improved over time, and he's done a much better job defending if he ends up on the mat, but it's hard to overcome five successful takedowns and 7:33 worth of control time in a 15-minute bout. The 32-year-old Hawaiian continues to take a couple steps forward and one step back in a loaded featherweight division.
Scheduled to fight Mitchell
FeatherweightUFC
July 27, 2023
Ige will fight Bryce Mitchell in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 80 on Sept. 23, according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
No. 13 Ige could surpass Mitchell's No. 12 spot by defeating him at UFC Vegas 80. The former won both his first two fights of 2023. Mitchell may be coming off a defeat to undefeated prospect Ilia Topuria but has not lost any of his other 15 fights, six in the UFC.
Cruises past Nate Landwehr
FeatherweightUFC
June 10, 2023
Ige defeated Nate Landwehr via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC 289 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
It was a trademark Ige performance. His hand speed and pure power were on full display, as he battered Landwehr from bell-to-bell. He nearly finished the fight on multiple occasions, with the ridiculous toughness of Landwehr being the only reason this fight went the distance. Ige stuffed all four of Nate's takedown attempts for good measure. Dan won six of his first seven UFC bouts, only to lose four of his next five. He's since rebounded with strong performances against Landwehr and Damon Jackson. Ige is a fringe top-ten fighter in a loaded featherweight division, but his significant struggles against better competition are a major concern. His last four defeats have come against Calvin Kattar, The Korean Zombie, Josh Emmett, and Movsar Evloev. Luckily for Ige, he's going to get another chance against a quality opponent if he keeps this up.
