A change of scenery might be best for Wahlstrom, according to The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Wahlstrom has two goals, six points, 39 PIM, 35 hits and 21 blocks in 31 contests while averaging just 10:53 of ice time with the Islanders this season. Taken with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, the original hope was that Wahlstrom would develop into a top-six forward. That hasn't happened with the Islanders, but perhaps he could find his way elsewhere.

It's difficult to label Wahlstrom's 2021-22 season as a disappointment considering he played the entire year at age 21, but for a player who is a noted sniper, Wahlstrom scored just 13 times in 73 games, including just one goal in his final 17 contests. The Islanders as a team struggled to generate offense last year, and that undoubtedly played a role, but New York needs Wahlstrom's goal-scoring ability to shine through on a more consistent basis, especially since he doesn't offer much in terms of defensive value. Wahlstrom is still a theoretical breakout candidate given his youth and individual talent level, but this probably isn't an offense you want to invest in from a fantasy perspective. Buyer beware.
