Might be moved
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman believes Philadelphia might have offered to take Joseph's contract off the Senators' hands as part of a trade proposal involving restricted free agent Shane Pinto.
ANALYSIS
Joseph had three goals and 18 points in 56 contests last season, which isn't much offensive production when measured against his $2.95 million annual cap hit through the 2025-26 campaign. Moving Joseph's contract is clearly something Ottawa is considering. Even if the Senators ultimately decide against trading Pinto, Ottawa might see if there is a taker for Joseph, perhaps with a draft pick included as a sweetener.

Joseph continues to show flashes of potential in the Lightning's bottom six. He notched 12 goals and 19 points in 56 games last season, averaging 10:56 of ice time per contest while shooting a terrific 20.3 percent. In three NHL seasons, the speedy winger owns a 15.3 shooting percentage and he's racked up 258 hits. Despite some roster turnover in Tampa Bay this offseason, Joseph still appears to be limited to a bottom-line position with little-to-no power-play time. However, the 24-year-old could shine if he forces his way up the depth chart in 2021-22.
