Kirsanov was drafted 84th overall by the Kings at the 2021 NHL Draft on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
A two-way defenseman known for his steadiness, Kirsanov played significant minutes for one of the best teams in the KHL (SKA St. Petersburg) as an 18-year-old. He managed just three assists in his 29 games with the club, but Kirsanov has displayed the ability to chip in offensively at both the junior and international levels. Kirsanov is unlikely to ever develop into an All-Star and it could be a challenge to get him over from Russia, but he should fit in seamlessly for Los Angeles when he finally arrives. This was a stellar selection for the Kings.
