Owen Power

21-Year-Old DefensemanD
Buffalo Sabres
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Power entered his first full season in the NHL amid the high expectations that come with being a No. 1 overall pick, and he played well under that pressure, recording four goals, 35 points, a plus-10 rating, 27 hits and 86 blocked shots in 79 contests while averaging 23:48 of ice time. Power still has plenty of growing to do, but that's a point of optimism rather than condemnation when discussing a defenseman who is just 20 years old. He's a lock to serve in a top-four spot, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him push past the 40-point mark in 2023-24. The only limiting factor is the presence of Rasmus Dahlin, which might keep Power off the top power-play unit most nights. Read Past Outlooks

Power recorded an assist, three shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 5-2 win over the Devils.
ANALYSIS
Power snapped a three-game point drought by helping out on John-Jason Peterka's empty-net goal in the third period. The 21-year-old Power has otherwise had a solid March with nine points over 14 contests, accounting for nearly a third of his production all season. He's at 29 points, 96 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 68 outings overall.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 draft, Power completed his sophomore season at the University of Michigan before stepping right into the Sabres' lineup in mid-April. He played the final eight games for the club, posting two goals and three points while averaging 22:05 of ice time per game. Power is a legitimate two-way horse who should be an impact player in all three zones, perhaps as soon as this coming year. He may never post more than 40-plus points in any single season, but the all-around package here should be enough for Power to carve out some fantasy value, especially as Buffalo improves as a team in coming seasons.
