Latest Fantasy Rumors
Panthers are favored landing spot
The Panthers are rumored to be the favorites to sign Gusev after he was released by the Devils, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Gusev struggled in 2020-21 with just five points and a minus-12 rating in 20 contests. That performance made him fall out of favor with the Devils, who put him on unconditional waivers Friday. He cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Gusev had 13 goals and 44 points in 66 games last season, so he could provide a bit of depth scoring for the Panthers or any other team able to ink him to a deal.

2019
After dominating the KHL for several seasons in which he averaged over a point per game, Gusev was able to bring his scoring touch with him to North America, racking up 13 goals and 31 helpers in 66 appearances for New Jersey last season. The dynamic winger recorded 15 of those 44 points with the man advantage, a role he should continue to fill going forward. It wouldn't be shocking to see Guzev challenge for 60 points during the upcoming campaign, which would make him a rock-solid pickup in the middle rounds of redraft formats.
