Vande Sompel (arm) is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 campaign, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After being injured during training camp, Vande Sompel appears set to spend the year on non-roster injured reserve for the Islanders. The blueliner should get another look during camp ahead of the 2020-21 season, but he figures to spend it in the minors after losing an entire year due to injury.

2015 NHL Draft: 10 Burning Questions
June 22, 2015
With the NHL Entry Draft set to kick off this weekend, longtime RotoWire hockey staffers Jon Litterine and Janet Eagleson discuss likely No. 1 pick Connor McDavid's dynasty-league upside, among other topics.
2018 Fantasy Outlook
His 5-foot-10 frame is a concern for some scouts, but the 21-year-old is a dynamic offensive defenseman who scored seven goals and 29 points in 58 AHL games last season. The next step for Sompel is to improve defensively. Plus-minus obviously doesn't tell the full story, but his minus-10 rating at the AHL level isn't going to cause the Islanders to rush him to the next level. Nonetheless, dynasty owners must be aware of Vande Sompel because of his tremendous offensive upside.
