2018 Fantasy Outlook
Wood was originally selected with the 84th overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft by Colorado. The Avalanche traded the 22-year-old blueliner to the Coyotes in 2016, and he was most recently dealt to the Sharks in exchange for Adam Helewka in June. Wood has yet to make his NHL debut, but he's been pretty productive in the minors over the past two seasons, totaling 17 goals and 62 points in 117 games with AHL Tucson. The towering 6-foot-7 youngster will get an opportunity to compete for San Jose's seventh defenseman spot in training camp, but it's hard to imagine a scenario in which he establishes himself as a regular contributor in 2018-19.
