Latest Fantasy Rumors
Role could be expanding
Biega could benefit from the Red Wings recently trading away Patrik Nemeth and Jon Merrill, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Suddenly, the Wings are bereft of right-shot defensemen, meaning Biega could be in line for increased opportunities down the stretch. He was waived Sunday, albeit in an apparent procedural move following the trades.

Biega didn't make much of an impact on the scoresheet with a mere three assists in 49 games last season. The 32-year-old defenseman was primarily a gritty shutdown player, logging 115 hits and only a minus-9 rating on an awful Red Wings defense. The team liked him enough to extend his contract for another year. Biega will likely continue to see work on the second or third pairing in a shutdown role in 2020-21. His 16-point burst from 2018-19 can be considered an aberration -- anything more than 10 points for the Quebec native would be a shock. Fantasy managers in deep formats that count hits may be able to justify rostering him, but he's a no-go in standard scoring leagues.
