FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are just two games Tuesday night starting at 7 p.m. EDT between the Bruins and Lightning and rounded out by Game 2 between Vancouver and Vegas. The Bruins took the first battle 3-2, but the latter contest was a blowout at 5-0.

It'll be interesting to see how each team responds tonight, especially the young Canucks that may have been flying too high after taking down the defending champs. This article is tailored toward the Golden Knights and Bruins winning their respective Game 2's, but there's still value to be found with each team.

GOALIES

Robin Lehner, VGK vs. VAN ($8,600): Lehner put up his blinders to the Twitter circus that stemmed from Marc-Andre Fleury's agent tweeting a picture about the goalie's discontent with being Vegas' backup, as he posted a 26-save shutout in Game 1. He hasn't recorded 30 saves since the round-robin round, but he just keeps on winning and is an intriguing play with just two games on the slate.

Jaroslav Halak, BOS vs. TB ($7,800): Halak was fantastic in Sunday's 3-2 win against the Lightning, denying 35 shots to take the series opener. He's been absolutely fantastic since Tuukka Rask left the bubble, recording a .940 save percentage or better in three of four games and winning each contest.

VALUE PLAYS

Alex Tuch, VGK vs. VAN ($4,600): In 2018-19, Tuch put up 20-32-52 over 74 games with the Golden Knights, and he may have been hampered by an injury this year when he posted a measly 8-9-17 through 42 games. He's seemed to harness the magic of last season, however, as he's now scored two goals and added a helper over the past two contests.

Tanner Pearson, VAN vs. VGK ($4,400): Pearson is in a bit of a slump with five straight pointless outings, but it's not for a lack of trying. He's fired 15 shots on net in that span, and since he's flanking Bo Horvat in the top-six, he's on the verge of another breakout.

Tyler Johnson, TB vs. BOS ($4,100): Johnson had had his fair share of inconsistencies this year, but it's tough to target a specific line stack for the Lightning. Even Johnson only played 12 minutes Sunday, but he managed an assist. Most importantly, though, he mans the top power-play unit that is superstar-riddled, so seek out his upside here at a discount.

LINE STACKS

Boston Bruins vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

C - Patrice Bergeron ($7,500)
W - David Pastrnak ($8,700)
W - Brad Marchand ($8,000)

Pastrnak missed three games in the series against the Hurricanes, but he returned in Game 5 and "The Perfection Line" hasn't missed a beat since, piling up three goals and six helper over two contests. You'll fork up a lot of cash to pay their salaries, but rarely do they let you down, and that floor is appealing in a two-game slate.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. Vancouver Canucks

C - William Karlsson ($5,500)
W - Mark Stone ($7,400)
W - Max Pacioretty ($7,600)

The Golden Knights have four strong lines, so the Canucks can't just zone in on their top unit. Even when they try, it's a difficult task to accomplish, as evidenced by the unit's combined four points and 12 shots on net Sunday. The Canucks are trailing for the first time since the qualifying round, too, so this is a critical moment. I'm taking the playoff veterans.

DEFENSEMEN

Torey Krug, BOS vs. TB ($5,600): Krug came through Sunday with a power-play assist on Pastrnak's second-period goal, and he continues to work on on the man advantage with the aforementioned loaded "Perfection Line." He rounds out a mega-stack for Game 2.

Alexander Edler, VAN vs. VGK ($4,300): If the Canucks even up this series, they'll need Edler to lead the way. He did his best Sunday with five shots and four blocked shots, and he's quite dependable because of those side stats.

Alec Martinez, VGK vs. VAN ($4,000): I plan to beat the drum for Martinez until his salary matches his value, as he now has a point in five of the last six games while posting plenty of shots and blocked shots along the way. His ice time took a dip in Game 1, and that didn't affect his value a bit, so he's a fairly safe play Tuesday.
