Yahoo DFS Hockey: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

There's only two games to go through Wednesday, and four of the Original Six teams will be playing. The Maple Leafs and Rangers -- possible goaltending trade partners -- face off in the first game while Chicago and Boston will both play on the second half of back-to-back contests.

GOALIE

Robin Lehner, CHI vs. BOS ($31): With only four goaltending options and a need to pick two winners, Lehner seems like the best option in the second game. Jaroslav Halak has won just one of the last four road games while posting an .886 save percentage. Lehner, on the contrary, has walked away from three of four home contests with a victory while sporting a .929 mark.

GOALIE TO AVOID

Michael Hutchinson, TOR at NYR ($24): Hutchinson will serve as the No. 1 for as long as Frederik Andersen (neck) sits out, and Toronto faithful are likely holding their collective breath. The veteran netminder has struggled immensely on the road this year, recording an .861 save percentage, 4.73 GAA and 1-6-0 record. The Rangers' firepower should feast on this matchup.

CENTER

Filip Chytil, NYR vs. TOR ($11): The 2017 first-round pick has notched 11 goals and six assists through 42 games, and he's garnered a second-line promotion to play alongside Artemi Panarin. This could be a perfect slump buster for the 20-year-old, and he's an immense value.

CENTER TO AVOID

John Tavares, TOR at NYR ($29): If you're going to spend up for a Toronto center, go the extra mile for Auston Matthews, who is actually producing right now. Tavares, on the other hand, has just one point over the last five contests, and it's a tough matchup already. Igor Shesterkins has a .927 save percentage and 2.51 GAA in the NHL ranks this year.

WINGS

Artemi Panarin, NYR vs. TOR ($33): Panarin's going to shatter career highs this year, as he already sits at 27 goals and 71 points, including 16 over the last nine outings. Going against Hutchinson, he's an excellent stack with cheap linemates like Chytil and Jesper Fast ($13).

Jake DeBrusk, BOS at CHI ($18): DeBrusk has found his game over the last month with six goals and as many assists over 10 games. His price has crept up quite a lot lately, and he was even priced at $23 last night. He's a steal in this contest, especially because he's compiled eight points over five career games versus Chicago.

WINGS TO AVOID

Andreas Johnsson, TOR at NYR ($14): Johnsson has gone pointless in six of eight games since returning from injury, and he's failed to fire more than one shot on net in each of the last seven contests. His third-line placement won't help the cause.

Kasperi Kapanen, TOR at NYR ($14): Kapanen's back in the coaching staff's good graces, but he still resides on the third line with just one point in seven games. Limited chances don't bode well against Shesterkin.

DEFENSE

Tyson Barrie, TOR at NYR ($21): Over the last three weeks, Toronto, Chicago and Boston are all top-12 penalty kills, according to Natural Stat Trick. The Rangers rank 27th in that stretch, though, and Barrie leads Toronto's blueliners in power-play points during 2020. He's heating up, too, accruing seven points over the last six contests.

Erik Gustafsson, CHI vs. BOS ($17): Gustafsson keeps on rolling with seven points over the last five games, and only one has come with the man advantage. It looks sustainable even against a stout penalty kill like Boston.

DEFENSE TO AVOID

Adam Fox, NYR vs. TOR ($19): Fox makes his living on the power play -- 13 of 19 points have come with the man advantage -- and as mentioned, Toronto has a top-10 penalty kill over the last month. Tony DeAngelo ($20) is in a similar position and may be tough to roll out.

Connor Murphy, CHI vs. BOS ($18): Murphy hasn't had much luck lately with just four points over the past month, and he's failed to direct a shot on net on two occasions. He's used in a defensive role anyway, starting just 44.6 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone this year.
