FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

SLATE PREVIEW

The bye weeks have kicked in ahead of the All-Star break, so we have an unusually light Tuesday slate of just five games. There are two teams -- the Panthers and Jets -- in the midst of back-to-back games, and there are two divisional meetings. Most of the offensive upside is present in the Eastern Conference, but there are some solid players in the West that come at a bargain.

GOALIES

Don't look now, but Matt Murray ($8,600) is back in the groove with five straight wins while toting a .925 save percentage. The team has confidence in him, so it wouldn't be surprising if he makes a third straight start. There's some high risk starting him against the Flyers' fifth-ranked 3.54 goals per home game.

It may be tough for the Hurricanes to keep James Reimer ($7,900) on the bench the way he's playing, as he's stopped 64 of 67 shots -- .953 save percentage -- over the past two games. Even if it's Petr Mrazek ($8,100), both are solid choices against the Jets, who rank 29th with 1.64 GF/60 in January.

The trade rumors are buzzing around pending RFA Alexandar Georgiev ($7,500), but his January performance isn't fazed. He's allowed exactly two goals in all three starts while posting a .941 save percentage. Two of those outings were wins against the Islanders, who have failed to score more than two goals in four of the last six contests.

On the other hand, Semyon Varlamov ($7,600) is losing his grip on the starting role, losing four straight with an .864 save percentage and 4.44 GAA.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Sidney Crosby ($8,500) is making up for lost time. He's lit the lamp three times and dished out five assists over four games since returning to action, and he'll likely draw Brian Elliott, who has a 3.03 GAA this year. Crosby would be fine in a stack, too, but with Dominik Kahun's concussion, there's no telling how the lines will shake out.

Charlie Coyle ($4,600) should get another chance on the second line with David Krejci on the mend. He has just one assist over two games in the role, and he'll get plenty of chances against Vegas' putrid penalty kill that has allowed nine goals to opposing power plays in 2020.

Nikolaj Ehlers ($4,800) starts a whopping 65.0 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. Capitalization is key, and he's not short there with six points over the last seven games while averaging 2.4 shots per game as well.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Boston Bruins (TOTAL: $24,200)

C - Patrice Bergeron ($7,800)
W - David Pastrnak ($8,800)
W - Brad Marchand ($7,600)

The Bruins went through a bit of cold slump, but this unit has stayed consistent with eight points over the last two contests. The ceiling is marvelous with this unit as well, and they all man the top power-play unit. Look for them to utilize that against the Golden Knights' crumbling penalty kill that ranks last in the league in January with 17.69 GA/60.

Carolina Hurricanes (TOTAL: $17,400)

W - Sebastian Aho ($7,100)
W - Teuvo Teravainen ($6,500)
W - Warren Foegele ($3,800)

Keep in mind that they're all listed as wingers, so it will impact the makeup of your lineup. However, the ceiling can't be missed, as the two stars have combined for 33 goals and 53 assists, and Foegele carries his weight with 10 and 12, respectively. All three have Corsis above 53.9 percent, and the Jets have allowed a league-high 3.69 G/60 at even strength in 2020.

Chicago Blackhawks (TOTAL: $15,500)

C - Jonathan Toews ($6,900)
W - Dominik Kubalik ($5,200)
W - Drake Caggiula ($3,400)

The pieces have fallen to make this line larceny at the price. Toews looks like the eight-figure man he is with a six-game, 13-point streak and Kubalik is making his Calder bid known with 21 goals, best among rookies, and 10 over the last eight games. To complete the puzzle, the Panthers will likely roll out 22-year-old Sam Montembeault, who has an .888 save percentage and 3.35 GAA.

DEFENSEMEN

Torey Krug ($5,600) continues to be a strong power-play presence, as he's stacked up five assists -- four with the man advantage -- over nine games since returning from injury. He's a worthy addition to the aforementioned Boston stack if you can afford it since he works on the same power play.

The Bruins' PK hasn't been great, either, ranking 22nd with 8.68 GA/60, so Shea Theodore ($5,600) and his 11 power-play assists have an intriguing ceiling. His floor keeps him afloat as well with 140 shots on net, third on the team.

Adam Fox ($3,800) and Anthony DeAngelo ($4,900) both have 10-plus power-play points apiece, and the Islanders' penalty kill has performed in line with Boston and Vegas. Both have been producing at similar rates with nearly identical floors, but DeAngelo certainly has more goal-scoring upside.
