FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

SLATE PREVIEW

Tuesday is host to 11 games and two divisional clashes. Just two teams -- the Bruins and the Blackhawks -- are in the midst of back-to-back games. Every team is making their final push before it's time to make trade decisions in a little over a month, so it's an exciting time of the year in the league. Read further for tips on how to set your DFS lineup for this crowded slate.

GOALIES

No goalie is playing better than Andrei Vasilevskiy ($9,200) right now. He's won eight straight games with a .946 save percentage, and he's coming off back-to-back shutouts. Meanwhile, the Kings have scored more than two goals just once over the last five outings.

Ben Bishop's ($9,000) also red-hot with three consecutive victories and a .961 save percentage. It's tough to target a road matchup versus the Avalanche, although he's beaten them twice at home while allowing just three total goals on 80 shots.

Plugging in Pavel Francouz ($8,100) or Philipp Grubauer ($7,800) may be a solid contrarian play, however, as the Stars have produced just 1.02 G/60 at even strength since the calendar flipped to 2020.

Thomas Greiss ($7,700) has ceded starting duties to Semyon Varlamov, but on the latter half of back-to-back contests, the former will be in the blue paint again. Greiss has been fine this year, however, as he's posted a .919 save percentage and 12-7-0 record, and the Red Wings will bring their league-worst 2.05 goals per road game to town. He probably isn't a contrarian play in this instance, though.

If Aaron Dell ($7,400) gets the nod, he's a high-risk, high-reward option. The 30-year-old has a .935 save percentage and 4-1-1 record since Dec. 27, and over the last six games, the Coyotes 25th with 2.08 expected goals per contest, per Natural Stat Trick.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Dominik Kubalik ($4,600) is on a five-game point streak where he has five goals and three helpers, and he's launched at least two shots on net per contest. He's working on the top line and second power-play unit as well, and Ottawa's penalty kill ranks 25th over the last month with 9.68 GA/60.

Nikita Gusev ($4,300) has three points in as many games, and he as 13 points in 13 contests with Taylor Hall out of the picture. The Maple Leafs' blue line and crease have endured some serious struggles lately, as they've yielded 18 goals over the last three contests.

Andrew Copp ($3,600) has a pair of goals since over four games since returning from injury, and he's been promoted to the second line alongside Blake Wheeler. There's a high ceiling against the Canucks' goaltending tandem that ranks 21st with a 3.42 GAA on the road this season.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Vancouver Canucks (TOTAL: $20,600)

C - Elias Pettersson ($7,400)
W - Brock Boeser ($7,600)
W - J.T. Miller ($5,600)

This unit has been busy in the new year, racking up 20 points over six games, and they all work together on the team's top power-play unit. Connor Hellebucyk has been shaky at times, and

the Jets sport the league's worst penalty kill over the last month, yielding 14.09 G/60.

Pittsburgh Penguins (TOTAL: $18,400)

C - Evgeni Malkin ($8,200)
W - Bryan Rust ($5,800)
W - Dominik Kahun ($4,400)

Rust is one of the main reasons the Pens are second in the Metropolitan right now despite all the injuries, as he ranks third on the team with 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists) through 31 games, and Kahun isn't far behind with 26. The firepower is present, and the Wild have yielded 19 scores over their last five road contests.

San Jose Sharks (TOTAL: $18,100)

C - Tomas Hertl ($6,400)
W - Evander Kane ($7,300)
W - Kevin Labanc ($4,400)

Logan Couture's long-term injury has bumped Hertl to the middle, and he's accompanied by Kane, who is well on his way to another 30-goal campaign. Hertl could sit the same mark, and he's pushed out 20 helpers this year. While the season may be unsavable, they'll get a crack at a division rival that has let up 3.22 G/60 over the last 30 days.

DEFENSEMEN

Roman Josi's ($7,100) 12-game point streak ended Sunday, but he still managed to record 8.0 fantasy points due to shots and blocked shots. That's the floor you get with Josi. There's plenty of upside for him to start another streak, too, as Mike Smith (3.01 GAA) is expected to start.

Kevin Shattenkirk ($4,400) is having a nice bounce-back campaign, as he's accrued 26 points -- just two shy of last year's total. His consistent power-play minutes boost his upside further against Los Angeles' 27th-ranked penalty kill (75.0 percent).

Add Quinn Hughes ($4,200) to the Canucks stack, but he's fine riding solo, too. He was deservedly voted into the All-Star game after accruing 32 points -- 17 with the man advantage -- over 45 games.

Erik Gustafsson ($4,500), John Marino ($4,000) and Ethan Bear ($3,800) all line up with the man advantage, and they'll be up against bottom-10 penalty kills (over the last month). Gustafsson is the most productive on the power play, but Bear and Marino pull their weight in the shots/blocked shots department as well.
