FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

SLATE PREVIEW

The first major domino in the trade market has fallen, as Taylor Hall was sent to Arizona in exchange for two draft picks and three prospects. Hall may make his Coyotes debut Tuesday against the Sharks, but unfortunately, with the trade call going in late Monday, Hall is unavailable for tonight's DFS slate.

Even without Hall, there's plenty of production to go around with 22 teams gearing up, including three divisional showdowns. Read on for tips to decipher the crowded slate on your way to fantasy stardom.

GOALIES

Tuukka Rask ($8,500) figures to be a chalky play in a matchup against the Kings, who are currently last in the Western Conference. While the Kings haven't converted lately, they rank second over the last month with 63.2 high-danger/scoring chances per 60 minutes, according to Natural Stat Trick. The Kings are 7-2-1 over their last 10 home games, too, so it may be worth fading Rask in tournaments.

Connor Hellebuyck ($8,400) is creeping into Vezina territory, as he's tied for the league lead with 16 wins while registering a .930 save percentage and 2.34 GAA. His numbers are even better at home, too, and the Jets host the Hurricanes. Over the past month, the 'Canes have posted just 2.05 GF/60 at even strength. Fire up Hellebuyck confidently.

It's tough to find a goalie playing better than Tristan Jarry ($8,300) right now. The 24-year-old is 8-2-0 over his last 10 starts, putting up a .941 save percentage in that stretch -- the third-best in the league during that stretch. David Rittich ($8,100) is similarly hot with five wins in his last six starts. It'll be tough to deploy either of them, but Rittich gets the edge at home if Evgeni Malkin (illness) can't go.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Clayton Keller ($5,900) leads the league with 29 shots on net over the last five games, and he's mustered up four points -- two on the power play -- in that span. While Hall won't be available for lineups, there's a good chance Keller flanks the top line with the superstar. This is a prime way to get runoff from Hall's production against the Sharks' faulty goaltending situation.

Rickard Rakell ($5,800) is starting to hit his stride, lighting the lamp once and adding four helpers over the past four outings. The youngster gets plenty of chances, too, starting 58.1 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. The Flyers' crease has been a vacuum recently, allowing 20 goals over the last five games, so Rakell is poised to stay hot.

Alexandre Texier ($3,800) was a sleeper in season-long fantasy drafts, and his production lately is congruent with those hopes. The 20-year-old has accrued three goals and two assists over six December games, and he'll be bumped into the top six with Josh Anderson (upper body) out. No team has allowed more goals per game this year than the Red Wings (3.86), so Texier comes in at a desirable valuation.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Vancouver Canucks (TOTAL: $21,600)

C - Elias Pettersson ($7,600)
W - J.T. Miller ($6,500)
W - Brock Boeser ($7,500)

This trio hasn't spent the whole month together, but they've been productive in that stretch, piling up six goals, 20 points and 60 shots on net over seven December games. Montreal's net has been flaky over the last month, yielding 3.03 GA/60 at even strength -- the fifth-worst. It doesn't hurt that they toil on the same power play together, too, as the Canadiens' sport a putrid 76.0 penalty-kill percentage.

Tampa Bay Lightning (TOTAL: $16,100)

C - Brayden Point ($7,000)
W - Tyler Johnson ($4,200)
W - Ondrej Palat ($4,900)

This stack is contingent on Nikita Kucherov (lower body) sitting out, which would bump Johnson up to the top line. Johnson is also dealing with an injury, but he appears more likely to suit up. Ottawa has allowed 2.66 GA/60 over the last month -- the eighth-most in that stretch -- so this unit has supreme upside at the suppressed price tag.

Detroit Red Wings (TOTAL: $15,400)

C - Dylan Larkin ($6,200)
W - Tyler Bertuzzi ($5,000)
W - Robby Fabbri ($4,200)

Fabbri looks like he's on the fast track to rediscover the player he was before two ACL injuries, as he's racked up eight goals and seven assists in 18 games with Detroit. Larkin and Bertuzzi have combined for 19 tucks this year as well, and they start a majority of their shifts in the offensive zone. The increased opportunities bode well against the Blue Jackets, who will likely roll out the shaky Elvis Merzlikins

DEFENSEMEN

With injuries to the Penguins' superstars, Kris Letang ($7,100) has stepped up, potting three goals and dishing out seven assists over the last nine games. The veteran is typically a power-play guru as well, and Calgary's penalty kill has let up five goals in as many games.

The Islanders are tough to score against, so a solid floor is desirable. Roman Josi ($6,300) continues to pile on the shots, racking up 25 and adding five points over the last five games, and he's generated at least 12.8 fantasy points in each contest.

Quinn Hughes' ($4,300) ice time is on the rise, averaging 23:37 in December. He's managed to post four assists over those games, and his consistent power-play usage puts him on track to viable fantasy production against Montreal's suspect penalty kill.
