FanDuel NHL: Saturday Targets

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Saturday's NHL main slate features 10 games and begins at 7:00 PM Eastern time. Below, you'll find an overview of the matchups and suggested options for crafting an effective lineup.

SLATE PREVIEW

There are plenty of enticing matchups to choose from in this large slate. Some that stand out the most are a Rangers-Panthers clash that should be high-scoring for both sides, the Predators hosting the Blackhawks and the Sharks hosting the Red Wings. If you're not afraid to target players finishing back-to-back sets, then the Blues (vs. Anaheim) and Canadiens (vs. New Jersey) are also appealing options as home favorites.

GOALIES

Pekka Rinne ($8,300) is coming off his first two regulation losses of the season, but the veteran netminder has a nice chance to snap that losing streak and improve his 8-2-2 record. The visiting Blackhawks are potting just 2.78 goals per game, and Chicago has won only seven of its first 18 games.

Jordan Binnington ($8,300) will be well-rested against Anaheim's bottom-10 offense, as he watched Jake Allen start Friday. The second-year netminder brings a 9-2-4 record, 2.35 GAA and .921 save percentage into this favorable matchup.

With a 7-1-0 record, 1.88 GAA and .942 save percentage, Thomas Greiss ($8,100) is off to a tremendous start. The German half of the Islanders' goalie duo should continue his strong play against a Flyers team that will be skating its second game in as many nights.

VALUE PLAYS/ONE-OFFS

Artemi Panarin ($8,200) has a 10-game point streak on the go, with four goals and 11 assists over that span. A Panthers team that's right in line with his Rangers in terms of defensive ineptitude at 3.58 goals allowed per game is unlikely to put an end to Panarin's prolific streak.

Anthony Mantha ($6,800) leads the Red Wings in goals (11), points (21) and shots (78). This battle between two of the six teams allowing at least 3.50 goals per game is likely to be high-scoring, and Mantha should thrive in such an environment.

Ryan Johansen ($5,500) is a nice bargain considering he's centering Nashville's top line and No. 1 power-play unit while playing at a 64-point pace with 14 points through 18 games. He fits as part of a stack or a stand-alone option against the mediocre Blackhawks.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($5,400) failed to mark the scoresheet Friday, but Ottawa's top center still has eight goals in his last seven games. His strong recent play should carry over against a Sabres team that's lost its last six games, letting up five-plus goals in three.

FORWARD LINE STACKS

Panthers vs. Rangers

Aleksander Barkov (C - $8,300), Jonathan Huberdeau (W - $7,400), Evgenii Dadonov (W - $6,200)

This is a rematch of Sunday's meeting between these teams, won 6-5 in a shootout by the Panthers at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers kicked off their Florida road trip with a 9-3 loss in Tampa Bay, and New York now ranks among the league's five worst defensive teams with 3.59 goals allowed per game. This line should take advantage of the favorable matchup, as Barkov has a 6-13-19 line in his last 11 games, Huberdeau's at 6-10-16 over that stretch, and Dadonov has four goals and five assists in the past 10.

Sharks vs. Red Wings

Tomas Hertl (C - $6,800), Timo Meier (W - $5,800), Barclay Goodrow (W - $3,600)

This line has been scorching of late. Hertl has a five-game goal streak going, lighting the lamp six times in that stretch to go with three assists. Meier has points in each of his past five games as well, with a 3-6-9 line over that stretch. Goodrow brings an element of affordability to this line, but he's proven himself capable of chipping in with two goals and five assists in his past seven games. With a Red Wings team that's allowing a league-high 3.71 goals per game coming to town, this red-hot trio should continue to produce, as long as Hertl's able to play through a minor knee injury.

Canucks vs. Avalanche

Elias Pettersson (C - $7,200), Brock Boeser (W - $7,100), Josh Leivo (W - $4,300)

With Colorado's top two goaltenders both on the mend, there's plenty of potential here for Vancouver's offense, especially after Edmonton's superstar duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl just combined for a whopping 11 points against the Avalanche on Thursday. Pettersson is the focal point of Vancouver's offense, as he leads the team with 24 points in 20 games. Boeser's tied with Pettersson for the team lead with eight goals, while the affordable Leivo has a respectable nine points despite only recently being promoted to this line.

DEFENSEMEN

Brent Burns ($7,400) has a 5-14-19 line through 20 games, putting him on pace to eclipse 75 points for the fourth time in five seasons. He's also throwing three pucks on net per game, as Burns remains one of the league's top sources of offense from the blue line. With a favorable matchup against Detroit, Burns is worth paying up for.

It's hard not to keep recommending Rangers rookie Adam Fox ($3,700) every time he plays. He's producing at a point-per-game pace over the past six, with 14 shots on net in that span and a role on the power play. Fox should thrive in the high-scoring environment in Florida, especially if teammate Jacob Trouba (upper body) can't go.

Shea Weber ($6,000) has four goals and three assists during an active five-game point streak, and he has a 6-8-14 line over his past 13 games. Even with his team finishing a back-to-back set, the star blueliner should beat up on the lowly Devils.

Alex Pietrangelo ($6,400) is another outstanding all-around blueliner playing for a heavy favorite. He has a 6-11-17 line, and his Blues will play host to a Ducks team that's winless in its past five.
