DraftKings NHL: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Jacob Markstrom, VAN vs. NJ ($7,900): Markstrom is yet again undervalued after a strong 21-save performance against the Rangers. The Canucks had Chris Tanev back in the lineup and it certainly helped. The Devils are the worst team on the road this season with just nine wins away from New Jersey, and despite some strong showings from expected starter Cory Schneider, have allowed three or more goals in four straight games.

CENTER

Auston Matthews, TOR vs. PHI ($7,400): He has scored a goal in two straight games, a silver lining for the Leafs, losers of three of their past four and already lamenting their first-round matchup against the Bruins. The Flyers are playing the second half of a back-to-back and lost to the Capitals 5-2 last night. Even if Matthews doesn't score, he's still an elite high-volume shooter.

Sean Monahan, CGY vs. NYR ($6,700): He provides quite a bit of upside at this price, especially with only three centers in the $6,000 range and Elias Pettersson ($6,000) looking a little worse for wear lately. Monahan had four points in just 14 minutes of playing time, he'll be once again facing a team that allows a lot of goals.

WING

Max Pacioretty, VGK at DAL ($5,700): Anton Khudobin will likely get the start, especially after Ben Bishop left last night's game with an injury, and that should at least improve Vegas' odds at least a little. Jonathan Marchessault is the same price and he's a good pick, too, but Pacioretty is a safer bet because he shoots so much more often. He has three points and 16 shots in his past four games.

Blake Coleman, NJ at VAN ($4,300): He was really good to start, then faded, but recently has come alive again with a goal in three straight games. He's been one of the Devils' best stories this season, a speedy and versatile 27-year-old forward who has 21 goals in his third NHL season. Canucks defensemen have a bad habit of coughing up pucks, and Coleman's forechecking ability will certainly be disruptive.

Nikolay Goldobin, VAN vs. NJ ($3,000): With Antoine Roussel out for the season, Goldobin once again has a chance to play in the top six on Bo Horvat's left wing. The talented playmaker played just 13 minutes and recorded one shot on goal in a win against the Rangers, but he played on the power play and managed to create a few scoring chances. He's a high-reward play and maybe worth a shot at this price.

DEFENSE

Mark Giordano, CGY vs. NYR ($6,500): I feel like I've picked him every single game this season, but the stats speak for themselves. He has three assists in his past two games, averages more fantasy points per game than anyone else, and comes at just a $100 premium to Morgan Rielly. The Rangers penalty kill ranks 25th in the league.

Seth Jones, CLS vs. CAR ($5,700): He had an assist, three shots and two blocked shots in a 7-4 win against the Bruins, and with the playoff race being so tight, the Jackets will continue to lean on him heavily. The Hurricanes shoot a lot, which means Jones will be able to block plenty of shots, and occasionally their goaltenders will have an off game and allow a ton of goals. Jones is going to get a lot of opportunities every night.
