DraftKings NHL: Sunday-Monday Playoff Picks

DraftKings NHL: Sunday-Monday Playoff Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG vs. VGK ($7,900): There's no way to sugarcoat Hellebuyck's disappointing play through four games against Vegas. He's sporting an .897 save percentage. The Jets face elimination at home in Game 5, and it would be shocking if Winnipeg didn't have its best game of the series. Hellebuyck already has six wins with at least 30 saves during the postseason, and a seventh would provide a profit at this salary.

CENTER

Evgeny Kuznetsov, WAS vs. TB ($6,800): With all due respect to linemate Alex Ovechkin, it's been Kuznetsov driving the bus for Washington. The center's 1.79 goals per 60 minutes are tied with Ovechkin for the team lead, and Kuznetsov paces the club in points (3.58) and shots (15.94) per hour. In a must-win spot, Kuznetsov could log close to 25 minutes.

Paul Stastny, WPG vs. VGK ($4,600): Despite playing in a top-six role and skating with the No. 1 power-play unit, Stastny has failed to find the scoresheet in three consecutive outings. In Winnipeg's Game 7 win over Nashville, he recorded two goals and an assist. This is another must-win contest, and the veteran is significantly underpriced.

WING

Alex Ovechkin, WAS vs. TB ($7,800): Stacking Ovechkin with linemate Evgeny Kuznetsov is an advised strategy with Washington's season on the line. The duo have combined for 6.02 goals, 14.29 high-danger scoring chances and an otherworldly 43.06 shots per 60 minutes during the playoffs. It's a win-or-go home spot for the Caps, too.

Patrik Laine, WPG vs. VGK ($5,900): Many have nitpicked Laine's playoff play, and this price doesn't match his upside. Plus, five goals and seven assists through 16 games are hardly underwhelming numbers. His 11.66 shots and 25.23 attempts per hour also pace the Jets.

Jack Roslovic, WPG vs. VGK ($2,900): The rookie stands out from the flier price range. Roslovic has recorded a respectable 1.94 points per 60 minutes through nine playoff games and is projected to remain in a favorable role skating with Bryan Little and Mathieu Perreault. The trio has drove possession with a 57.78 Corsi For percentage and generated 16.95 high-danger scoring chances at five-on-five.

DEFENSE

Dustin Byfuglien, WPG vs. VGK ($5,700): The blueliner has recorded five goals, 11 assists, 49 shots and 30 blocked shots while logging a hefty 26:28 per contest (2:57 on the power play) through 16 playoff games. Byfuglien has been a force all postseason, and his high-floor, high-ceiling combo isn't priced appropriately considering the magnitude of this game for Winnipeg.

John Carlson, WAS vs. TB ($5,400): Over the past six games, Carlson has averaged 24:19 of ice time with 2:54 on the power play and collected four assists. He has registered 27 shots and attempted 44 through those six contests without scoring. High-volume shooters are valuable in shallow player pools, and Carlson also has some positive regression ahead in the goals column.
