McGowan carded a one-under 71 on Sunday to finish 20-under and win the Italian Open by one stroke over Nicolas Colsaerts and Laurie Canter.

McGowan failed to break 70 for the first time all week during Sunday's final round at Chervo Golf Club, but he still managed to rack up four birdies an an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole.
