Ups intensity during quarantine
Conner (quadriceps) has utilized the COVID-19 quarantine period to work out even more intensely than usual in an attempt to enter the 2020 season in the best shape of his career, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. "The quarantine helped me get away from all distractions," Conner said. "Just staying at home and having to cook at home ... It forces people to stay home. With that time while you're home, I was just trying to get better."
Excited about Big Ben's prospects
Smith-Schuster, who participated in a throwing session with Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) last Saturday, came away considerably optimistic about what the Steelers might be able to accomplish in 2020 with the quarterback at full health, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports. "Honestly, I think it's going to be a big year for us," Smith-Schuster said during an appearance on Good Morning Football on Friday. "I was very happy with the draft picks we got, being able to draft a running back, being able to draft (Chase) Claypool. Good defense. We already had a solid defense. Our missing piece was Ben."
Primed for comeback year?
Roethlisberger's (elbow) performance in an informal throwing session last week left multiple teammates impressed, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports. "You know, like when the ball cuts through the air and you can hear that 'pfft-pfft-pfft' sound?" receiver Ryan Switzer said. "That's what JuJu said it sounded like. I didn't hear it but, man, I have been trying to catch with no gloves for a couple of months to build up these callouses, but ask my hands how they feel catching his throws."
