30-Year-Old SafetyS
New York Giants
2019 Fantasy Outlook
After backing up Landon Collins at strong safety last year, Thomas will now play second-string to ex-Cleveland Brown Jabrill Peppers -- a former first-round pick who established career highs in 2018 by collecting 79 tackles and five tackles for loss, while averaging a respectable 8.8 yards per punt return on 25 attempts. Thomas had a solid year in his own right for the G-Men, logging six starts in 16 appearances, while registering 59 total tackles, two interceptions and six pass deflections. He'll remain one of the more important rotational players in the Giants' defensive backfield, battle-tested in the NFL and capable of playing multiple positions at a proficient level. Past Fantasy Outlooks
Thomas will compete for the starting free safety job in camp. His competition includes Andrew Adams, Curtis Riley and Darian Thompson. Should Thomas not win the job, he'll be a key contributor on special teams.
Thomas is pretty far down the list at free safety for Miami and will is unlikely to make the team out of training camp.
Thomas was signed off the 49ers practice squad last season essentially to give the Dolphins some depth and competition at safety this season.
The rookie out of Stanford will compete for a reserve role in the defensive backfield but should land an important role with the special teams unit this season.
