Talk of an Aaron Rodgers trade hasn't entirely died down, but it may be the Chargers rather than the Broncos who are best positioned to take a big step forward.

Covington joins the Chargers after productive stints with the Cowboys and Bengals in consecutive years. He'll provide depth along the defensive line.
Covington played 15 games during his rookie season, seeing time at both nose tackle and defensive end. With Jared Crick moving on in the offseason, the starting right defensive end job is available and Covington is competing with Devon Still, Brandon Dunn and Jeoffrey Pagan. Covington has the inside track, even after he sustained a concussion early in camp, and was named the starter in place of J.J. Watt (back) for the Texans’ first preseason game.
Covington is a 2015 sixth-round draft pick out of Rice, whom the Texans believe can be an impact pass rusher. As a nose tackle, he doesn't figure to get much playing time behind Vince Wilfork, but has a sub-rusher on passing situations he could generate a few sacks.
