The Chiefs released McIntosh on Friday, the team's official site reports.

ANALYSIS
McIntosh inked a six-year deal with Kansas City in 2007, but lasted just two years with the club. The Chiefs were very unimpressed with his play in the preseason and will instead trust either Barry Richardson or Ikechuku Ndukwe at right tackle. They may also scope other team's cut lists for more help.

McIntosh started all 16 games for the Chiefs in 2008, but his play deteriorated as the season wore on, and right tackle was considered one of the Chiefs’ biggest needs entering the offseason. Kansas City, however, did little to upgrade the talent at the position, and McIntosh remains the starter entering 2009. The Chiefs’ line would be in a bit of trouble of McIntosh, 32, suffered an injury.

McIntosh started 15 games at left tackle last season, but Kansas City drafted guard Branden Albert in the first round of the draft with an eye towards moving him to left tackle. McIntosh will likely flip over to the right side, which is not as easy of a transition as one might think.

McIntosh will start at left tackle for the Chiefs.

Has played on both sides of the line, but will probably back up Vernon Carey at right tackle.
