Signed by the Broncos in the offseason, Holdman could challenge for the starting outside linebacker spot vacated by D.J. Williams, who moved to the middle. Otherwise he will add depth and a veteran prescence as a backup linebacker.
With the loss of Antonio Pierce to free agency the Redskins are looking for someone to step up and replace the starting middle linebacker, leading tackler, and captain of the 3rd ranked defense. Holdman was signed in the off-season to compete with front runner Lemar Marshall for the starting job. If he wins the job he will be a good source of tackles and will pick up a few sacks and interceptions.
The linebacker will compete for a starting job at the weak side position. He started 47 of 59 games with the Bears, including 13 games last season when he rebounded from a knee injury in 2002
Chicago released their starting weakside linebacker.
