First Unofficial ODI Preview: India A vs. New Zealand A

The ODI series between the two sides will see a lot of promising cricketers taking the field. The India A team in particular is vastly experienced, as international stars like Manish Pandey, Khaleel Ahmed and Shreyas Iyer will lock horns along with young players like Mayank Agarwal and Shreyas Iyer.

The home side head into the three-match series as favourites though, as they seem better equipped to challenge India in what will be tough conditions. They have players like Corey Anderson and Lockie Ferguson who can prove to be lethal and the visiting side will have their task cut out.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Ishan Kishan (8.5 credits)

Kishan has been more consistent than his Kiwi counterpart Tim Seifert, and he has impressed in his limited chances as well. Scoring close to 1500 runs in 39 List A games at an average of 40.94 with three tons shows his potential, and the Indian would be hoping for a good performance in this series.

Batsman: Mayank Agarwal (10 credits)

Mayank Agarwal's selection is almost a no-brainer. Though he has been in the news for his feats in the longer format, he has been equally impressive in List A games as well, averaging 49.38 with a strike rate of 100.30. He will be India's premier batsman in the series and the side will do well to rally around his expertise and his ability to adapt quickly to stern conditions.

All-rounder: James Neesham (10 credits)

All-rounder: James Neesham (10 credits)

Neesham has played 41 ODIs for New Zealand and hence is vastly experienced in the format. In List A games, he has a strike-rate of 102.21 and his quick cameos down the order often pulls his team to a challenging total. With a bowling average of 30.33 and an economy rate of 6.01 in domestic ODIs, Neesham can change the course of a match with a spell, and he will be a player to watch out for.

Bowler: Seth Rance (8.5 credits)

With a bowling average of 24.46 in 42 List A games, the right-arm medium pacer is one of the the most talented quicks from the country. His economy rate of 5.06 further suggests how dangerous he can be. He can also contribute with the bat if needed - a strike-rate of 113.29 in the format shows that if need be, Rance can be a match-winner with the bat too with some quick runs.

Captain: Seth Rance

Vice-captain: Mayank Agarwal
