With De Laura under center in 2022, the Wildcats ranked sixth nationally in passing offense, but the quarterback’s 13 interceptions cost Arizona dearly in embarrassing losses to Washington State (De Laura’s former team) and Cal during conference play. De Laura ended the season third behind Caleb Williams and Michael Penix with 3,685 passing yards, and even though the program had its best showing in years, the offense had difficulty sealing the deal while in the red zone. With increased familiarity in Arizona’s system, De Laura’s mistakes should decrease, and with elite receivers like Jacob Cowing at his disposal, he should return to join a talented assortment of Pac-12 signal-callers who are set to excel in 2023.
