Gives up football for track
July 13, 2020
Johnson announced Monday that he would transfer from New Mexico to Wisconsin, where he'll join the track and field team, Colten Bartholomew of the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Bartholomew, a Wisconsin official said that there are no plans for Johnson to join the football program, so he'll apparently turn his focus exclusively to track after playing both sports during his two years at New Mexico. After taking a redshirt in 2018, Johnson appeared in one game in 2019 for the Lobos, rushing three times for nine yards in a Week 3 loss to Notre Dame. He picked up an injury in that game and ended up missing the rest of the season.
