2020 Tournament PreviewPress Virginia is back in 2020 with all the staples of a Bob Huggins-coached team. Ten different players average double-digit minutes, but no single player logs more than 25.0 mpg. This helps the team stay fresh and has paid tremendous dividends. The Mountaineers rank third overall in defensive efficiency, per KenPom, and force 15.6 turnovers per contest (No. 30 nationwide). They also hold opponents to the eighth-lowest effective field-goal percentage (44.5) and 10th-lowest three-point percentage (28.8) in the country. Offensively, most of the production comes in the frontcourt in the form of Oscar Tshiebwe (11.2 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and Derek Culver (10.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg). That tandem generates countless opportunities for second-chance points, reflected by the nation's best offensive rebounding rate. A backcourt of mostly underclassmen is a bit of a cause for concern, especially considering no single player made more than 30 three-pointers in the regular season. The Mountaineers will presumably be favored against any team with inexperienced guards, but there might not be enough offense here for a particularly deep run.
