2019 Tournament PreviewThe streak finally snapped. After 14 seasons with at least a share of the Big 12 regular-season title, Kansas finished third this year. The team endured heavy losses with Udoka Azuibuike (13.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg) going down in early January with a wrist injury and then second-leading scorer Lagerald Vick (14.1 ppg) taking a leave of absence. The team's best 3-point shooter at 45.5 percent, Vick isn't expected back for the tournament. Kansas now runs the offense through Memphis transfer Dedric Lawson (19.1 ppg, 10.5 rpg), with four freshmen holding down the remaining starting spots, including guard Devon Dotson (12.1 ppg, 3.6 apg), who shoots 37.0 percent from long range. Kansas played the nation's toughest schedule, per KenPom, but that's about all the Jayhawks have going for them heading into the big dance. They are 19th in KenPom and 20th in the NET rankings, just 11-8 against Quad 1 teams. While certainly capable of winning multiple games, this isn't the Kansas team fans have come to expect.
