Mallette committed to Alabama on Tuesday, per Mike Rodak of AL.com.
ANALYSIS
Mallette has only one season of collegiate eligibility remaining, so it made sense that he would enter the NCAA's transfer portal and commit to a top school. Alabama's current team has found much success thanks to scoring-focused guards Mark Sears and Aaron Estrada. With both candidates to not be part of the 2024-25 Tide, because of pro prospects and maximized eligibility respectively, Mallette at least partly solves the problem. During each of his three seasons with Pepperdine, he averaged at least 13 points while shooting 41 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free-throw line. On top of that, he is an above-average three-point shooter, having averaged multiple threes made twice.
