Grimes will sit out the 2019-20 season after he was denied a waiver from the NCAA granting him immediate eligibility at Houston, Jesse Newell of The Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Grimes transferred in from Kansas earlier this summer after appearing in 36 games as a freshman and averaging 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 triples in 27.4 minutes per contest. He likely would have taken on more of a scoring role for Houston had he been granted eligibility for the upcoming season, but he'll instead have to wait until 2020-21 to debut with the Cougars. Grimes will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2020-21.
