Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Tyler Bey was born February 10, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was raised through his junior year of high school. He is the son of Toya Mays. Bey started high school by attending Las Vegas High School. After his junior year, he transferred to Middlebrooks Academy, a prep school in Los Angeles. His success at Middlebrooks helped attract more attention from NCAA basketball programs. Bey chose to play college ball at the University of Colorado, where he played hoops for three seasons from 2017 to 2020. After the end of his junior season, he was named the 2019-20 Pac-12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year along with earning league All-Defensive Team and All-Pac-12 Second Team honors. After the close of his junior season, Bey declared himself eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft. Bey is a big fan of Von Miller of the Denver Broncos. NBA Fans can follow the Las Vegas native on Twitter @Tbeeyy. Bey appeared in 99 games (87 starts) across three seasons at Colorado before electing to forego his senior year and turn pro. The 6-7 power forward posted modest numbers his freshman season (6.1 PPG, 5.1 RPG) before breaking out in his second year and winning the 2018-19 Pac-12 Most Improved Player Award. He increased his scoring (13.6 PPG) and rebounding (9.9 RPG), and did so in only 26.3 minutes per contest. Bey also finished second in the conference in field goal percentage (.541) that season, all leading to a first-team All-Pac-12 spot. By his junior year, Bey was no longer a secret, breaking out as one of the country's elite two-way players. He led the Pac-12 in total rebounds, was fourth in steals and seventh in blocks per game, helping him earn the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. Bay also got the nod for the All-Pac-12 second team.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Bey will begin his NBA career as a two-way player with the Mavericks organization after being selected in the second round of November's draft. The 22-year-old wing garnered 99 games of college experience during his tenure at Colorado, finishing off his amateur career with an impressive 13.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocks across 29.0 minutes while shooting 53.0 percent, including 41.9 percent from three-point range. Bey will be eligible to play in up to 50 games at the NBA level and has the size for both wing spots and power forward at 6-foot-7, but with the Mavericks boasting a deep, contending team, it's likely he gets substantial amount of development time at the G-League level instead.
