Four-plus years after he was selected No. 41 overall by the Nuggets, Jokic was named to the All-NBA First Team in 2018-19. He also appeared in his first All-Star game and finished fourth in MVP voting. "The Joker" set career-highs in points (20.1), rebounds (10.8), assists (7.3) and steals (1.4) per game. Jokic delivered an eye-popping 12 triple-doubles during the season, including a 35-point, 11-assist, 11-rebound effort on Oct. 20 during a blowout win over the Suns. On Jan. 13, Jokic scored a season-high 40 points, to go with 10 boards and 8 dimes, in a home win over Portland. On Jan. 23, Jokic collected a career-high 21 rebounds during a loss in Utah. On Jan. 26, the 23-year-old produced 32 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assist to lead Denver to a home victory over the 76ers. In other words, Jokic had a strong January, averaging 25.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. He'd deliver similar production leading the Nuggets through 14 playoff games. Jokic's post-season averages of 25.1 points, 13.0 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game were enough to defeat the Spurs in seven games in the opening round. But, unfortunately, they were not enough to get past Portland, who defeated Denver in seven games. Jokic has four more years remaining on his contract with Denver.2017
In his third season in the Association, Jokic continued to cement his place among the NBA's top centers. The Serbian big man established career-highs in nearly every offensive category while leading Denver to a six-win improvement over the previous campaign. His 18.5 points per game paced the Nuggets and ranked sixth among all centers in the league. Jokic also led the team in rebounds per game (10.1) and assists per game (6.1), becoming the sixth player in NBA history to average at 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for an entire season. Jokic's assist total (458) led all NBA centers, while his 111 three-pointers ranked fifth at the position. He also racked up 10 triple-doubles on the season to place fourth in the league. Furthermore, the former second-round pick demonstrated outstanding all-around shooting skills, making 49.9% of his shots from the field, 85.0% from the free-throw line and 39.6% from behind the arc. Jokic's outstanding play earned him two Player of the Week awards and a 13th-place finish in voting for Most Improved Player. He scored a career-high 41 points in a win over Brooklyn on Nov. 6, converting 16-of-25 field goals including 4-of-9 three-pointers. In his second NBA season, Jokic appeared in 73 games for the Nuggets, making 59 starts. In 27.9 minutes per game, Jokic posted averages of 16.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 0.8 blocks. He knocked down 57.8 percent of his field goals, including 32.4 percent of his threes. On the season, Jokic recorded 25 games with at least 20 points and five games with at least 30 points. He topped out with 40 points on 17-of-23 shooting in a win over the Knicks on Feb. 10, also adding nine boards, five assists and two steals. Jokic recorded 35 points and 12 rebounds against the Spurs on Jan. 19. He notched a triple-double -- one of seven on the season -- against the Hornets on March 31, posting 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. In a win over Golden State on Feb. 13, Jokic had 17 points, a season-high 12 assists and a season-high 21 rebounds. A second-round pick out of Serbia, Jokic quickly emerged as perhaps the steal of the 2015 NBA Draft. In 21.7 minutes per game, Jokic posted 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steal while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 81.1 percent at the line. In his NBA debut on Oct. 28 in Houston, Jokic finished with two points (1-1 FG) in four minutes of action. Two nights later, he posted 10 points and nine rebounds in 18 minutes against Minnesota. Jokic moved into the starting lineup for the first time against Phoenix on Nov. 20, finishing with six points and four rebounds. Against the Spurs on Nov. 18, he went for 23 points and 12 boards. Jokic topped out with 27 points (12-18 FG), to go with 14 rebounds and four assists, in a win over Toronto on Feb. 1. He handed out a season-high nine assists in a win over Charlotte on Jan. 10. Jokic pulled down 15 rebounds against the Spurs on Apr. 8. He recorded a season-high five steals against Indiana on Jan. 30 to go with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
