Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

We have seven games in the NBA on Sunday, but only four will make up the main evening slate on Yahoo. Although we have limited options, that doesn't mean that you can't end the night a winner. Here are some players to target for your entry, as well as a few to avoid.

GUARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS at GS ($48): There has been no stopping Beal lately, who has scored at least 50.5 Yahoo points in four straight games. He did face a couple of bad teams during that stretch, but he also provided impressive performances against the Bucks and Jazz. Now he'll look to keep things rolling against a Warriors' team and their league sixth-worst defensive rating.

Damion Lee, GS vs. WAS ($15): This was the day that Stephen Curry (hand) was reportedly targeting for a return, but he's not ready yet. With Ky Bowman (ankle) and Jordan Poole (ankle) also both out Saturday against the Suns, Lee stepped up to record 20 points, five rebounds and eight assists. The key was that he logged 37 minutes. Lee should receive all of the playing time that he can handle again in this game, making him a great option considering the Wizards have allowed the most points per game in the league.

Guard to Avoid

Jamal Murray, DEN vs. TOR ($27): Murray settles in as one of the mid-tier options in terms of price for this slate after scoring at least 35.2 Yahoo points in six of his last eight games. He is coming off of a clunker against the Clippers on Friday, but a lot of that was because he logged just 26 minutes due to the lopsided score. While Murray should play more in this game, facing the Raptors is no easy task. They own the second-best defensive rating, so this might be a good night to keep him out of your entry.

FORWARDS

Anthony Davis, LAL at NO ($51): The Lakers were defeated soundly by the Grizzlies on Saturday, which limited Davis to 25 minutes. The lower minutes for Davis might actually be a good thing for this matchup against the Pelicans since he will have to play on consecutive days. While we do have to monitor for news in case the Lakers decide to rest Davis, this represents a great matchup if he plays as he's destroyed the Pelicans this season by scoring at least 61.3 Yahoo points in each of their previous three meetings.

Eric Paschall, GS vs. WAS ($15): Draymond Green (knee) did not play Saturday, but part of that could have been the Warriors resting him for one game of a back-to-back set. Even if he does return for this game, this is still a favorable spot to deploy Paschall. Not only does he check in at a reasonable price, but he could thrive against the Wizards' porous defense. The Warriors might also ask Paschall to provide more on the offensive end given all their injuries.

Forward to Avoid

Jabari Parker, SAC vs. DET ($15): This is a pretty easy pass. Frankly, Parker should be listed at the minimum price. Even if he was, he's still someone to keep out of your entry. Despite being healthy, Parker hasn't appeared in any of the Kings' last four games. Unless they were to suffer an injury or two, it appears he might stay anchored to the bench down the stretch.

CENTERS

Marquese Chriss, GS vs. WAS ($20): Chriss made the most of his 26 minutes against the Suns by scoring 36.3 Yahoo points. He's been one of the Warriors' most productive players lately, averaging 13.5 points, seven rebounds and 1.6 blocks across 13 games since moving into the starting lineup. Considering he also won't destroy your budget, he might be too good to pass up.

Harry Giles III, SAC vs. DET ($16): If you do want to avoid Chriss, Giles is a viable alternative. The Kings are down to just him and Alex Len at center right now, so they have decided to give Giles the chance to start. He's starting to settle into the role, averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists across the last four games. Even though Giles's defensive stats have left a lot to be desired, he can still chip in enough in other areas to provide value.

Center to Avoid

Thomas Bryant, WAS at GS ($15): Bryant finally displayed a strong offensive showing against the Jazz on Friday, scoring 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. However, he only had two rebounds in that game, partly because he logged 18 minutes. Bryant hasn't topped 20 minutes in any of the four games since returning from his most recent bout with a foot injury, so his lack of playing time doesn't leave him as an appealing option despite this favorable matchup.
