Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday-Sunday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Saturday-Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

With only one game in the NBA on Saturday, Yahoo will stretch the DFS fun into Sunday to create a three-game slate. It should be another exciting set of games, including the Rockets trying to get on the board with a win in their series against the Warriors. Here are some options to target and avoid while creating your entry.

GUARDS

C.J. McCollum, POR vs. DEN ($32): McCollum stepped up during the Blazers epic quadruple-overtime win in Game 3, scoring 70.6 Yahoo points across a whopping 60 minutes. While he was obviously aided by the extra playing time, his 39 shot attempts in that game illustrate his importance to the team. With the Blazers looking to hold serve at home in Game 4, expect McCollum to be plenty involved and produce a productive stat line.

Andre Iguodala, GS at HOU ($13): Iguodala is the most appealing cheap option at any position. He's moved into a starting role for this series and has performed well by scoring 23.8 and 33 Yahoo points, respectively. He should be locked in for at least 30 minutes again in Game 3, so don't hesitate to add him to your lineup.

Guard to Avoid

Ben Simmons, PHI vs. TOR ($41): The Sixers may have the edge in this series, but Simmons has scored 33.3 Yahoo points or fewer in all three contests. Looking back even further, he's scored 35.6 Yahoo points or fewer in six of eight games during the Sixers playoff run. At this price, buyer beware.

FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, GS at HOU ($42): Durant attempted 22 shots in Game 2 and is now averaging 23.8 shot attempts per game since DeMarcus Cousins (quadriceps) went down. That's enabled him to score at least 45.5 Yahoo points in each of those contests, leaving him with one of the highest floors of any player included in this slate. You really can't go wrong with either him or Kawhi Leonard ($42).

Paul Millsap, DEN at POR ($20): Millsap came through with another valuable performance in Game 3 with 17 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. He's now averaging 16.7 points, 10 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.7 blocks in the series after having plenty of success against the Blazers in the regular season, as well. While he's not overly cheap, but he is still a great target at this budget-friendly price.

Forward to Avoid

Al-Farouq Aminu, POR vs. DEN ($18): Aminu is a key part of the Blazers' success, but he isn't very involved offensively. His limited scoring chances have been a big reason why he's scored 26.4 Yahoo points or fewer in seven of their eight playoff games. With Millsap playing so well and priced only two dollar more, there's not much appeal in rolling with Aminu.

CENTERS

Nikola Jokic, DEN at POR ($46): As disappointing as Friday's loss was for the Nuggets, Jokic absolutely dominated. He ended up logging 65 minutes, finishing with 33 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists and two blocks. With only one day of rest before Game 4, it's fair to question if such heavy playing time will impact him. However, with the Nuggets staring at the potential to be down 3-1 in the series, look for him to step up with another well-rounded stat line.

Clint Capela, HOU vs. GS ($25): Even though the Rockets lost Game 1, they had to be pleased with the way Capela bounced back from a poor performance in Game 1. Despite fouling out, he scored 14 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two blocks across 33 minutes. Jokic is the best option to deploy at center, but if you don't want to pay up at the position, Capela is at least a double-double threat who will help your budget.

Center to Avoid

Marc Gasol, TOR at PHI ($20): After holding Joel Embiid in check across the first two games, Gasol couldn't slow him down during a blowout loss in Game 3. While he'll look to put the clamps back on him Sunday, don't expect Gasol to be involved much on the offensive end. He hasn't attempted more than nine shots in any of the Raptors' playoff games after posting a 16.3 percent usage rate with them during the regular season. Since he's not all that cheap, it doesn't make much sense to take a chance on this being the game in which they turn to him for offense.
