With the Orioles "dangling" John Means in trade talks this offseason, per Buster Olney of ESPN, Zimmermann could find himself near the top of the rotation next season.

Baltimore has very little established starting pitching behind Means, with the likes of Zimmermann, Keegan Akin and Zac Lowther on the roster. While Zimmermann may not emerge as a great fantasy option, he could at least be afforded plenty of opportunities in 2022 and may occasionally have some streaming appeal.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Zimmermann didn't fare very well in his first taste of major-league action in 2020, allowing six runs over seven innings across two appearances. His 4.04 SIERA was much more encouraging than his production on the surface, but he appears to be in line for a swingman role if he makes the major-league roster in 2021. Zimmermann posted a 22.6 K%, which is similar to his numbers in the minors, even though he has a lackluster 91.5 mph average fastball velocity. He's had a groundball rate below 50.0% in each of the past two seasons in the minors, and he had a subpar BABIP against higher-level talent. The 26-year-old was somewhat unlucky in his first taste of major-league action, but he could earn a spot in the big leagues to begin the 2021 season. Zimmermann would have a slight uptick in fantasy value if he earns a rotation spot in 2021, but his lack of dominance against batters leaves something to be desired.
