Ranked as a top-eight prospect in this July 2 international signing class by both MLB.com and Baseball America, Rodriguez won't turn 17 until February, but already measures in at 6-foot-2, 174 pounds. While his current tools aren't outstanding, he is considered one of the best pure hitters in this class, consistently producing in games and showcases with an advanced all-fields approach. Given his size and hitting ability, most evaluators expect him to develop 20-homer pop down the road. He won't be much of a threat on the bases. Rodriguez may get sent out as a shortstop, but is expected to end up at third base.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
Entering the year, Rodriguez ($2.1 million bonus) was very high on the list of hitting prospects from the July 2, 2018 international signing class to keep tabs on. He did not embarrass himself in his pro debut, but a lot of the shine has come off. A few things are pretty clear: he has monster raw power, he struggles with pitch recognition and his below-average speed will probably relegate him to third base. While he was better than league average (106 wRC+) in the Dominican Summer League, he struggled to square up pitches consistently (14.3 LD%, 26.0 IFFB%) and hit just .238. The Indians still wanted to challenge him, sending him stateside for the final month. His K% spiked from 15.9% to 30.1% after the promotion, but he was also one of the youngest players in the AZL. High-pedigree 17-year-olds who are going to be special typically show more flashes in their pro debuts than Rodriguez did.
