Duggar was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Dodgers on Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Duggar was signed to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training by the Dodgers in December. The former San Francisco bench option comes up short in his bid to make the Opening Day roster, and he'll likely begin his 2023 campaign with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

2017
Duggar started 67 games last season, primarily against righthanded pitchers. He also appeared in 40 more games as he was part of Gabe Kapler's Strat-O-Matic managing approach. Most of Duggar's starts came as an injury fill in. In between, he had two stints with Triple-A Sacramento. Duggar did garner 17% of his plate appearances against southpaws, recording a .666 OPS compared to a .780 mark with the platoon advantage. Duggar is a plus defender, so he was often employed as a defensive replacement. Duggar has a modicum of power and speed, but a career 30% K% hinders garnering more regular playing time. He'll get ample playing time to be an NL-only asset, but unless Duggar is filling in for an injured teammate and playing regularly, he won't compile mixed-league worthy production.
Between his early-July debut and his late-August season-ending shoulder injury, Duggar appeared in 41 games for the Giants, hitting a modest .255/.303/.390 with two homers and five steals. With the Giants seemingly now committing fully to a rebuild, Duggar is expected to take over the starting center field job at the start of the regular season. Don't expect much of an uptick in performance in a more regular role, however, as it took a .354 BABIP to get Duggar to his mediocre slash line, and nothing in his prospect reports suggests an elite talent in any area of the game. One possible area of growth for Duggar would be his walk rate, which sat at just 6.6% in his rookie campaign after sitting in double digits at each of his stops in the minors. More walks would give him more opportunities to show off his decent speed, which may be his primary avenue to fantasy value in 2019.
After missing over half the minor-league season with hip and elbow injuries, Duggar reestablished his value in the Arizona Fall League. He hit .263/.367/.421 with three home runs, nine steals (on 10 attempts) and a 21:12 K:BB in 20 games. The 24-year-old also really impressed with the glove, and the Giants now view him as their center fielder of the future. Despite his success rate on the bases in the AFL, he is a borderline plus runner, so steal totals in the 20-to-30 range may be a bit unrealistic, although he could flirt with 20 in his first few seasons. His on-base skills are legitimate, as he has never posted a walk rate below 10 percent. This should allow him to eventually profile in the leadoff spot for the Giants, which would be a boon for fantasy owners, as he needs to score runs to make up for the fact that he likely won't be driving many in. He has a chance to open the year in a center field platoon with Austin Jackson, starting against right-handed pitchers.
Duggar displayed his major-league ready approach at the plate in 2016, batting .321 while getting on base nearly 40 percent of the time with Double-A Richmond. While his contact is ready for the majors, his power is nearly non-existent. He hit just one home run in 276 plate appearances in 2016. If the power doesn't develop over time, then Duggar will be nothing more than an empty batting average for fantasy purposes as he doesn't project to be a big base stealer either. The 23-year-old will likely be promoted to Triple-A Sacramento to start the 2017 campaign.
