In lineup against Gold Coast
MBrisbane Lions
July 22, 2021
McCarthy made the Round 19 lineup against Gold Coast.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy had picked up a chest issue in the last game against Richmond, but it doesn't seem to have affected him at all heading into the QClash derby against the Suns. With 23 goals in 17 games, McCarthy has the potential to put up decent numbers on occasion.

Chest
July 16, 2021
McCarthy picked up a chest injury during the Round 18 loss to Richmond, according to Callum Twomey of AFL.com.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy has scored goals in six of his last seven games, so his absence could be somewhat detrimental after a tough loss.
Improves in win
MBrisbane Lions
April 17, 2021
McCarthy scored two goals and one behind to go with 19 disposals (seven kicks, 12 handballs) and made 11 tackles during Saturday's 102-45 win over Essendon.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy hadn't scored more than 72 fantasy points in a single game before Round 5, so this performance represented a sizable improvement. If the whole team plays as well as they did against teams that aren't as inconsistent as Essendon, then McCarthy could be worth a few more looks than he's warranted so far.
Decent in loss
MBrisbane Lions
October 17, 2020
McCarthy logged 14 disposals (six kicks, eight handballs) and made eight tackles during Saturday's 82-42 loss to Geelong.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy was one of a few players to serve much value during a disappointing loss that resulted in elimination from the finals. McCarthy had a stretch where he scored a goal in 10-of-12 Rounds in the middle of the season, but was otherwise too inconsistent in possession. His season is now over.

MBrisbane Lions
September 18, 2020
McCarthy (thigh) will return to action in Round 18 versus the Blues.
ANALYSIS
McCarthy sat out the Lions' previous tilt due to a thigh issue and was previously on a one-match ban, but he's back in full force with a tune-up game ahead in Round 18 before the finals fire up in early October.
